Drink Prep:

  • Increase your water intake, more than usual. Carbonated beverages don’t count and in fa
ct, can make you more gassy!

  • Aloe vera juice can be consumed in smaller quantities alone, or added to a fresh juice (below). Coconut water can also be added to juices below for extra hydration and flavor.

  • Drink fresh-pressed juices on an empty stomach as a substitute for your breakfast. There are no right or wrong recipes for your green juice. Here are some idea combos:

+Cucumber, carrot, apple and celery
+Beet, pineapple, spinach
+ Berries, orange, lime, ginger and kale
+Watermelon, kiwi, carrot, ginger, lemon/lime
+Kale, cucumber, pear, grape

Food Prep:

  • Juice for breakfast. Wait at least 30 minutes before eating solids.

  • Fresh fruits (organic)

  • Generally, avoid gluten-containing items and rice.

  • Breakfast ideas: Steel cut oats, gluten-free toast with mashed avocado, salt and pepper. No meats for breakfast.

  • Lunch ideas: Fresh green salad first, then cooked low-gas producing veggies (e.g. bell peppers, bok choy, cucumber, fennel, kale, spinach, green beans, lettuce, tomatoes, zucchini, asparagus, sprouts, radish, fermented veggies). You can also have a clean starch like sweet potatoes, yams, millet or quinoa. (If you’re vegetarian or vegan, have your starch at dinner). No meats for lunch.

  • Dinner ideas: Again, fresh green salad is first. Then cooked veggies, then your wild-caught fish or free-range chicken or turkey. (If you are not vegetarian or vegan).

Day of Your Colonic:

  • If your appointment is in the early morning, drink either a green juice and skip food, or drink water (warm or room temp) with fresh-squeezed lemon juice and skip food.

  • If your colonic is later in the day/evening, eat very lightly (same meal type and order as above).

  • Allow 2 – 3 hours between your meal and your colonic!

After Your Colonic:

  • After you’re colonic, drink electrolyte-rich water or a fresh green juice.

  • For 24 hours after your colonic:   Bieler’s broth (place 3 medium zucchini, chopped; 4 stalks celery, diced; 1 lb string beans, chopped; 1-2 cloves garlic, finely chopped; 1/2 a medium onion, finely chopped or thinly sliced in a pot. [Reserve 1 bunch parsley (stems removed) for end]. Add 4-6 cups of water or broth to pot of veggies. Bring to a boil and boil for 10 minutes, or until veggies are bright green and just starting to get tender.  Remove from heat and add parsley. You can serve like this or you can puree it. Other broth soups (no noodles) and pureed soups (no meats) are acceptable.

The next few days after that:

  • Green juice first

  • Fresh fruits

  • Well-cooked veggies (steamed, roasted, sautéed low-gas vegetables) or fermented veggies. Avoid raw veggies for a few days.

  • Still avoid red meats but ok to have 1 serving of wild-caught fish or free-range chicken (i.e. 4-6oz) at dinner after the veggies, or have a serving of real Kefir instead of fish/chicken.

Foods to avoid:

  • Beverages (soda, seltzer, and sparkling water, etc)

  • Red meat, pork, conventionally raised / con-agra meats, farmed fish

  • Dairy products

  • Soy products

  • Processed meats and foods

  • Refined sugar bill
